The Nathan S. Cutler Memorial Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce
the recipients of the 2002 Nathan S. Cutler Memorial Scholarships:
Marija Djokic, East Bay Judo Institute
Stephanie Hata, East Bay Judo Institute
Robert Nagaki, Western Idaho Judo Institute
Marija and Stephanie are seniors at El Cerrito (California) High School;
Marija is planning on attending San Francisco State University in the fall,
while Stephanie is headed to the University of California, Davis. Robert is
currently a junior at Payette (Idaho) High School.
The Nathan S. Cutler Memorial Scholarships were established, through the
generous contributions of Nate?s family and friends, to recognize high
school and college students in the Daiheigen community for their academic
and Judo achievements. Past honorees include David Fukuda, Sayaka Matsumoto,
and Trenton Mitsuoka.
The personal essays of the honorees will be included in the program for the
2002 East Bay Invitational Judo Tournament. The Committee is certain that
the awards will be meaningful to the recipients, and that the scholarships
will be put to use in the spirit of education and spirituality that defined
Nate, long-time East Bay Judo Institute member and assistant instructor.

The East Bay Judo Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the teaching of
Kodokan Judo. Classes are held Mondays through Saturdays, and are taught by Dr. David
